Looking forward to ISW 2013 after successful Congress at Yokohama
December 2011

The congress in Yokohama was very successful and we are grateful for the outstanding hospitality by our Japanese hosts and the amazing way that they managed to run the congress given the recent natural disaster. The IASMEN program was successful and in particular we found that the joint sessions were very popular. This is also where we as a society need to be - with the others to spread the word about metabolism and nutrition to the other domains and to our colleagues.

After a successful program in Yokohama, IASMEN is now getting ready for the next 2 year period preparing for the upcoming congress in Helsinki. The Central IASMEN committees have been renewed in some positions and some of us stood on for yet another term. This will ensure continuity while also bringing in some new blood.

We have already secured an increasing number of sessions jointly with the other societies at ISW 2013. Andrew Hill is our new program director for the congress.  Any ideas or news that you as an IASMEN member feel he should know about and take into consideration when planning the program, please pass it on to him (a.hill@auckland.ac.nz).

We also plan to activate the web site more and we will also start to link to other societies of interest starting with the ERAS Society.
